This body fat is energy waiting to be used. When you increase your heart rate to 65 of 75% the body can still take in oxygen and turn fat into energy ATP in the Aerobic System.

Stored sugar is called Glucose. Glucose is used in the Glycolytic system and will create energy ATP in greater quantities in less time.

The Aerobic System can last as long as 60 Minutes-The or until the body runs out of steam do to loss of glucose causing an athlete to “Hit the wall.”

1 to 1.5 minutes-The Glycolytic System lasts up to 1.to 1.5 minutes until the burning starts to take over causing you to stop the movement so to replace the need for oxygen that was used up. Also, you are regaining and replacing ATP for the next set.

The Phosphagen System is used for all out energy, 85 to 95% of your max heart rate. It is the quickest in make energy (ATP) out of all the systems, but last the shortest in time, about 10-15 seconds. You don’t feel a burn to signal low oxygen, you just give out and suck wind at the end of a set when replacing ATP and O2.
